The wind seemed to die, and clouds covered the moon. The wind kicked up, in the OPPOSITE direction that it had been blowing moments ago. One of the men went flying for no apparent cause, slamming into the side of a building. The other two backed away from her, their eyes darting from side to side, fangs sliding into view.
A voice rang out from the darkness, and it got deeper as the voice spoke. By the time he stopped speaking -- and the voice was indisputably male -- the darkness was so complete, she wouldn't be able to see her hand in front of her face. "Apollomites fear me. Mortals know me not. Only my brothers and sisters have ever seen my face. Flee now, and you will live to fight another day. Remain, and I shall kill you now." The voice was rich and deep, resonating slightly within her very bones.
There was no sound for a few minutes, and then out of nowhere seemingly came the sounds of bodies being thrown every which way. At one point, a strong gust of wind would tug at her skirt, and then die completely.
Within ten minutes, there were no more sounds. Slowly the moon came back out, and in front of her was an angel. At least, that was what he looked like. An avenging angel of death, come to rescue her from untold danger. A short blade is clutched in each hand, rough hands that showed that the male they belonged to was no stranger to work.
Those hands were connected to lean, well-muscled arms, broad shoulders and chest, leading down to a trim waist and lean legs. All this was accentuated by his attire: fitted blue jeans, a muscle shirt covered by a floor length coat, and a black fedora. He sighed, and flared the coat, slipping the blades back into a pair of sheaths on his belt. “What the hell did they take an interest in you for?” he said, his voice seeming to weave its way into her ears.
